Career Option

There are lots of career options open to humanities graduates, with many centred around the strong research and reporting skills that humanities subjects require.

Teaching

Humanities courses can offer scope for career development as a teacher with lots of incentives designed to pull more graduates into this field. A 2:1 degree is often required and you will need to undertake a further degree in a Postgraduate Certificate of Education.

Cultural Roles

The UK is famed for its cultural heritage and this sector relies on graduate talent. This is a particularly good area for theology and anthropology graduates and entry level roles can include administrative and junior curative positions in art galleries and museums or working for companies like the National Trust.

Politics

Many social sciences graduates go on to work in a career as a social researcher, reporting on key public interest stories like unemployment, housing and crime for the government, independent bodies or even the media, particularly national newspapers. Usually, a good 2:2 degree or higher is required and you need to be prepared to work from the bottom up.
